William Tyndale
William Tyndale was a 16th-century English scholar and translator best known for his pioneering work in translating the Bible into English. His translation of the New Testament, completed in 1525, was the first to be directly translated from Greek into English, making the scriptures accessible to the common people. Tyndale's work laid the foundation for later English Bible translations, including the King James Version. He was condemned for his efforts and was executed in 1536 for heresy, but his contributions had a lasting impact on the English language and religious reform.
