Mamah Bouton Borthwick
Mamah Bouton Borthwick was an American translator and writer, best known for her association with the architect Frank Lloyd Wright. She was a pioneering advocate for women's rights and a translator of Swedish feminist Ellen Key's works, including "The Morality of Woman." Mamah and Wright began an affair in the early 1900s, which caused a public scandal, as both were married at the time. Tragically, Mamah was murdered in 1914 during an attack at Wright's Taliesin estate in Wisconsin.
