Karle Wilson Baker
Karle Wilson Baker (1878–1960) was an American poet, essayist, and short story writer known for her vivid depictions of nature and the Southwest. She published several poetry collections, including "Blue Smoke" and "Burning Bush," and her work appeared in prominent publications like *The Atlantic Monthly*. Baker also wrote the historical novel "Family Style," which showcased her deep understanding of Texas history. A member of the Texas Institute of Letters, she became an important literary figure in Texas and beyond, blending Southern charm with lyrical craftsmanship in her writings.
