Josiah Tucker
Josiah Tucker (1713–1799) was a Welsh economist and Anglican clergyman known for his influential writings on economics and political theory. As Dean of Gloucester, he wrote extensively about trade, free markets, and the economic policies of his time. His notable works include "A Treatise Concerning Civil Government" and "Four Tracts, Together with Two Sermons, on Political and Commercial Subjects," where he argued for free trade and critiqued mercantilism. Tucker was also known for his early advocacy of American independence, believing it would be economically beneficial for both Britain and the American colonies.
