Joseph T. (Joseph Thomas) Wilson
Joseph Thomas Wilson (1836–1891) was an African American writer, soldier, and politician. He is best known for his 1888 work "The Black Phalanx," which documents the history and contributions of African American soldiers in the United States military, particularly during the Civil War. A prominent advocate for Black rights, Wilson also served as an editor for various newspapers and was deeply involved in post-war Reconstruction efforts.
