Eliza Leslie
Eliza Leslie (1787–1858) was an American author best known for her popular cookbooks and etiquette manuals. She gained widespread fame with her first cookbook, "Seventy-Five Receipts for Pastry, Cakes, and Sweetmeats" (1828), which became a bestseller. Leslie also wrote short stories and novels, contributing to magazines of the time, and authored the widely read "Miss Leslie's Behavior Book" (1834), an influential etiquette guide. Her works combined practical household advice with accessible writing, making her a prominent figure in 19th-century American domestic literature.
