Witter Bynner
Witter Bynner (1881–1968) was an American poet, translator, and writer known for his lyrical verse and association with the literary circles of his time. He gained prominence for his translations of classical Chinese poetry, notably in "The Jade Mountain," a collection of T'ang Dynasty poems. Bynner was also known for his satirical novel "The New World," which humorously critiqued American society. Throughout his career, he advocated for poetry's public role and was a major figure in the Santa Fe literary community, where he spent much of his later life.
