William Elliot Griffis
William Elliot Griffis (1843–1928) was an American author and educator, best known for his works on Japan and Korea. A pioneer in introducing Japanese culture to the West, Griffis wrote extensively on the subject, with notable books like "The Mikado's Empire" and "Japanese Fairy World". He also served as a teacher in Japan, where he contributed to the modernization of the country's educational system. In addition to his work on East Asia, Griffis wrote about Dutch history and folklore, reflecting his diverse interests and scholarship.
