W. Cubitt Cooke
William Cubitt Cooke (1866–1951) was an English illustrator and watercolourist, known for his work on J. M. Dent's 1892 edition of Jane Austen's Complete Novels. He contributed thirty lithographs, three per volume, mirroring the scenes chosen by his predecessor, Ferdinand Pickering. Cooke also illustrated Charles Lever's novels in the late 19th century, published by Little, Brown in the U.S., following Phiz's earlier whimsical style. His illustrated works include Austen's Complete Novels, Popular British Ballads, and several of Lever's novels.
