Stijn Streuvels, a pseudonym for Frank Lateur (1871–1969), was a prominent Flemish writer known for his vivid portrayals of rural life in Flanders. His works, like "De Vlaschaard" and "Het leven en de dood in den ast," often explored the hardships and simplicity of peasant life, highlighting the connection between humanity and nature.
