S. M. (Simon Markovich) Dubnow
Simon Markovich Dubnow (1860–1941) was a prominent Jewish historian, writer, and political thinker, known for his groundbreaking work in Jewish history. He is best known for his monumental ten-volume series "World History of the Jewish People" and for advancing the concept of Jewish autonomy within a pluralistic state. Dubnow was also a leading advocate for Jewish cultural nationalism, arguing for the preservation of Jewish identity through education and historical awareness. Tragically, he was killed by the Nazis during the Holocaust in 1941 in the Riga ghetto.
