Rose Hawthorne Lathrop
Rose Hawthorne Lathrop (1851–1926) was an American writer, the daughter of famed novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne. She began her literary career by writing poetry and short stories, publishing works like "Along the Shore" (1888) and "Memories of Hawthorne" (1897), a memoir about her father. Later in life, Rose shifted her focus to charitable work, becoming a Roman Catholic nun and founding the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, dedicated to caring for impoverished cancer patients. Her transformation from a writer to a humanitarian and religious leader remains a notable part of her legacy.
