Richmal Crompton
Richmal Crompton (1890–1969) was an English author best known for her "Just William" series of children's books, which featured the mischievous schoolboy William Brown. Originally a schoolteacher, Crompton turned to writing after illness forced her to leave teaching. Though she also wrote adult novels and short stories, her enduring popularity stems from the humor and charm of her William stories. The first "Just William" book was published in 1922, and the series went on to become a beloved part of British children's literature.
