Richard Steele
Richard Steele (1672–1729) was an Anglo-Irish writer and politician, best known for his contributions to early English journalism. He co-founded the periodicals "The Tatler" (1709) and "The Spectator" (1711) with his friend Joseph Addison, aiming to entertain and educate the public on contemporary social issues. Steele's writing style was witty and engaging, often blending humor with moral lessons. He also authored plays such as "The Conscious Lovers" (1722), which reflected his interest in promoting virtue through literature.
