Pedro Antonio de Alarcon
Pedro Antonio de Alarcón (1833–1891) was a Spanish novelist, short-story writer, and journalist, best known for his vivid and realistic portrayals of 19th-century Spain. His most famous work, "El sombrero de tres picos" ("The Three-Cornered Hat"), is a humorous novella that satirizes the social customs of the time and was later adapted into a ballet. Alarcón's other notable works include "El escándalo" and "El niño de la bola," which reflect his evolving interest in romanticism and realism. His style is marked by sharp observation, wit, and a deep understanding of human nature.
