Mahatma Gandhi was an Indian political leader, social reformer, and writer, known for his role in India's struggle for independence from British rule. His philosophy of non-violence, or "ahimsa", deeply influenced global movements for civil rights and freedom. Gandhi wrote several books and essays, including "Hind Swaraj," where he outlined his vision of self-rule and critiqued modern civilization. His autobiography, "The Story of My Experiments with Truth," offers personal insights into his spiritual and political journey.
