John William Burgon
John William Burgon (1813–1888) was an English Anglican divine and writer, best known for his defense of the traditional text of the New Testament. He is most famous for his work "The Revision Revised" (1883), in which he criticized the Revised Version of the Bible. Burgon was also a devoted student of biblical manuscripts and advocated for the Textus Receptus and the Byzantine text-type as the most accurate representation of the New Testament. Additionally, he wrote "The Life and Times of Sir Thomas Gresham" and was awarded the Newdigate Prize for his poem "Petra".
