John Pinkerton
John Pinkerton (1758–1826) was a Scottish historian, cartographer, and writer known for his works on history and geography. He is best remembered for his multi-volume "A General Collection of the Best and Most Interesting Voyages and Travels," which compiled accounts of explorations from various travelers. Pinkerton also published works like "Modern Geography" and "An Inquiry into the History of Scotland," where he promoted controversial views on Scottish history. His writing style was scholarly but often criticized for his strong opinions and sometimes inaccurate conclusions.
