James W. (James Watson) Gerard
James Watson Gerard (1867–1951) was an American lawyer, diplomat, and author. He is best known for serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany from 1913 to 1917, during the critical years leading up to America's entry into World War I. Gerard authored several works, including "My Four Years in Germany" (1917), which detailed his experiences as ambassador and offered insights into German society and politics during the war. He also wrote "Face to Face with Kaiserism" (1918), which critiqued the German Empire's military and political strategies.
