Helen Bannerman
Helen Bannerman (1862–1946) was a Scottish author best known for her children's books, particularly the controversial "The Story of Little Black Sambo" (1899). She spent much of her life in India, where her husband worked as a physician, and this experience influenced her writing. Bannerman wrote several other books, including "The Story of Little Black Mingo" and "The Story of Little Black Quasha," often featuring tales set in exotic locations. Though her work was popular, it has since faced criticism for its racial stereotyping, particularly in "The Story of Little Black Sambo."
