Gottfried Keller (1819–1890) was a Swiss poet and novelist, known as one of the most important writers in 19th-century German literature. His most famous work is the novel "Green Henry" ("Der grüne Heinrich"), a semi-autobiographical Bildungsroman that explores the struggles of a young artist. Keller also wrote "The People of Seldwyla" ("Die Leute von Seldwyla"), a collection of novellas portraying life in a fictional Swiss town. His works are characterized by realism, humor, and a deep connection to Swiss culture and society.
