George Fillmore Swain
George Fillmore Swain (1857–1931) was an American civil engineer and author who made significant contributions to the field of engineering. He authored several important texts, including "The Design of Masonry Structures" and "The Strength of Materials." Swain was a professor at both the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University, where he educated many future engineers. In addition to his academic work, he served on various committees and professional organizations, influencing infrastructure projects and the development of engineering standards.
