Emanuel Swedenborg
Emanuel Swedenborg (1688–1772) was a Swedish theologian, philosopher, and mystic known for his writings on spiritual matters and his claimed visions of the afterlife. Originally a scientist and engineer, Swedenborg later turned to religious and metaphysical subjects, believing he had received divine revelations. His major works include "Heaven and Hell" and "The New Jerusalem and its Heavenly Doctrine," where he detailed his visions of heaven, hell, and the spiritual world. Swedenborg's ideas have influenced various religious movements, including the founding of the New Church, also known as Swedenborgianism.
