Eleanor Marx Aveling
Eleanor Marx Aveling (1855–1898) was a British writer, political activist, and the youngest daughter of Karl Marx. She played a significant role in the early socialist movement, translating important works such as "Madame Bovary" by Gustave Flaubert into English and promoting socialist ideals in Britain. Aveling was deeply involved in labor movements and women's rights, co-authoring the influential book "The Woman Question: From a Socialist Point of View". Tragically, her life ended in suicide, partly due to personal and financial troubles, leaving a lasting impact on socialist and feminist thought.

The general conception of anarchism that...

The following articles are now, after forty-five years, for the first time collected and printed in book form. They are an invaluable pendant to Marx's work on the coup d'état of Napoleon III. ("Der Achtzehnte Brumaire des Louis Bonaparte.") Both works belong to the same period, and both are what Engels calls "excellent specimens of that marvellous gift ... of Marx ... of...

CHAPTER I No. 1. Mr. Rondeau to Horace Walpole. "Petersburg, 17th August, 1736. " ... I heartily wish ... that the Turks could be brought to condescend to make the first step, for this Court seems resolved to hearken to nothing till that is done, to mortify the Porte, that has on all occasions spoken of the Russians with the greatest contempt, which the Czarina and her present Ministers cannot...

Chapter One We were in class when the head-master came in, followed by a "new fellow," not wearing the school uniform, and a school servant carrying a large desk. Those who had been asleep woke up, and every one rose as if just surprised at his work. The head-master made a sign to us to sit down. Then, turning to the class-master, he said to him in a low voice— "Monsieur Roger, here is a...
