E. P. (Elijah Porter) Barrows
Elijah Porter Barrows (1807–1888) was an American clergyman, biblical scholar, and writer known for his contributions to theological literature and biblical studies. He authored influential works, including "A Memoir of Miss Hannah L. Murray" and "Companion to the Bible," which provided in-depth analysis and historical context for biblical texts, aiming to make scripture more accessible and understandable to a general audience. Barrows also taught Hebrew at Western Reserve College and Andover Theological Seminary, emphasizing language study in biblical interpretation. His scholarly work and teaching helped shape American biblical scholarship in the 19th century.
