Charles F. Lummis
Charles F. Lummis (1859–1928) was an American author, journalist, and adventurer known for his vivid portrayals of the American Southwest. He gained fame with his book "A Tramp Across the Continent," which recounted his 3,500-mile walk from Ohio to Los Angeles in 1884. Lummis was also a passionate advocate for Native American rights and the preservation of Southwest culture, contributing significantly to the early movement for historic preservation. He founded the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles, one of the first museums dedicated to the cultural heritage of the region.
