Brantz Mayer
Brantz Mayer (1809-1879) was an American author, historian, and diplomat known for his extensive writings on Mexican history and culture. He served as the U.S. Secretary of Legation in Mexico and later as the Consul in California, which greatly influenced his work. His notable books include "Mexico As It Was and As It Is" and "Observations on Mexican History and Archaeology." Mayer also helped to found the Maryland Historical Society and contributed significantly to the preservation of local historical records.
