Augustus Harris
Augustus Harris was a British playwright, impresario, and theatre manager, born in 1852. He is best known for revitalizing London's Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, where he introduced spectacular pantomimes and melodramas that became immensely popular. Harris wrote and co-wrote several plays, including "A Run of Luck" and "Youth," and was instrumental in the success of large-scale productions such as "The Prodigal Daughter." His influence on British theatre extended beyond writing, as he also helped shape modern pantomime and the staging of grand operas.
